Born in Moravia, completed studies for the Priesthood in Moravia, and was ordained at Olomonoc, Moravia on July 5, 1902.

Fr. Bauer came to the Lincoln Diocese on May 7, 1918, and was incardinated into the Dioceses of Lincoln on May 4, 1920.
He served at St. Wenceslaus, Bee, NE (1918-1922), St. Anthony, Bruno NE (1922-1931), and St. Vitus, Touhy, NE (1931-1937).

Died at St. Joseph Hospital, Omaha, Nebr. on Dec. 31, 1937 after having suffered a stroke on Dec. 8, 1937.

Funeral Mass conducted by Most Rev. Bishop L. B. Kucera, of Lincoln, Nebr. at St. Vitus, Touhy with burial at St. Anthony, Bruno.
