She was the wife of the late Nicholas Chromiak who passed away in 2004. Born in Lansford, she was the daughter of the late Wasil and Mary (Rinko) Danko.
She was a graduate of the former Summit Hill High School.
She worked in the local Garment Industry before retiring. Irene was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lansford where she was a member of the Ladies Guild of the Church and Rosary Society.
Surviving are two Sons, Michael Chromiak and his wife Sharon of Hometown and Daniel Chromiak and his wife Gloria of Oregon; a Daughter, Adrienne Schaeffer and her husband Karl of Lehighton; Sisters, Anna Scheese of Lansford, Helen Terry and her husband Michael of Lansford and Mary Mackay of Lehighton; Grandchildren, Aaron Chromiak, Brynn wife of Edward Dunkelberger, Karl Paul and wife Ashley, Lori wife of Christian Kaiser, Pamela wife of Carl Kressley, Melissa Chromiak-Tipton, Tabatha Chromiak, Shawn Chromiak, and wife Gayle and Kerry Chromiak; Great Grandchildren, Christian Kaiser, Nolan Dunkelberger, and Justin Chromiak.
She was preceded in death by a Brother, Andrew Danko and a Sister, Dolores Smith.
Panachida Service is on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. from the Thomas J. Parambo Funeral Home, 54 W. Fell St., Summit Hill followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. from St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Lansford with the Rev. Dr. Vasyl Chepelskyy.
Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Summit Hill. Calling hours are on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Monday morning from 9:30-10 a.m. at the funeral home.
