He was born on Nov. 20, 1925, in Peoria to Seth and Angelina (Pedze) Oedewaldt. Roy married Eunice Rosenbohm on July 1, 1950, in East St. Louis, Mo. She preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 2010.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Scott Oedewaldt; a granddaughter, Emily Oedewaldt; and four brothers, Earl, Jim, Richard and Charles.
Surviving are five children, Roger (Terri Dooley) Oedewaldt of Washington, David (Diane) Oedewaldt of Bartonville, Denny (Lisa) Oedewaldt of Roanoke, Richard (Brenda) Oedewaldt of Tremont and Ann Oedewaldt of Bartonville; two brothers, Clyde (Janet) Oedewaldt of Pekin and Lindy (Mariella) Oedewaldt of Bartonville; and a sister, Ella Mae (Roland) Woolcock of Greenfield, Ind.
Roy worked as a plumber for Airport Plumbing and Heating and also farmed.
He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, serving as seaman first class.
Roy was an Honorary Lifetime Captain of the LST-219 and a member of American Legion Post 979, VFW Post 3883 and Plumbers Local 63.
Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery in rural Mapleton.
