The end of an era for the Kiley Klan of Akron occurred with the death of Doris M. (Kiley) Talbot on March 30, 2015. Doris was born in Sharpsburg, PA, on November 14, 1923, one of 13 children of William P. Kiley and Marie Horning. She was the 6th born, but the last to join her parents and siblings in heaven. She attended St Mary's grade school and graduated from Central High in 1942. She married Richard Mann in 1942 and had two daughters, Doris Ann Mann (Thomas) and Linda Sue Mann. Her work contribution was with Tsannis Candy Company on making chocolate and candy canes, later she worked at the Maennenchor Club.
Her second marriage to John Brendle produced two sons, Jay Edward Brendle and Alan Joseph Brendle, where she managed Dixie Queen Donuts and later opened two Plaza Donuts in Warren, Ohio where they moved to Miami, Florida and maintained the Huddle House Diner until John's death.
As a widow she worked at the Melody Inn, Cuyahoga Falls and then met and married George Talbot. They were married for 20 years before his death in 1996. Doris held many jobs in food services, one at Thistledown Race Track in the Jockeys kitchen, and retired after 11 years from Suburban Hospital in Warrensville Heights as a cashier in the cafeteria.
Doris was proud of her Irish Heritage and kissing the Blarney stone on her trip to Ireland in 1984 with her daughter Doris Ann.
She was predeceased by her parents, William Patrick ( Buck) and Marie Horning; 2 brothers & 10 sisters: Anna Rita Kiley, Robert George Kiley, Charles William Kiley, Bertha Mae Kiley (Walter Judson), Lillian Kiley, Janet Marjorie Kiley (Don Millward), Hennretta Kiley (William Walters), Betty Louise Kiley (Ivan Davis), Ruth Magdeline Kiley (Leonard Broughton and Steve Selesky), Patricia Kiley (Bob Fruedeman and Norman Thacker), June Rose Kiley (Bernard Schellenberger and Bill McClain), Grace Kiley (Don Yates).
Besides her 4 children , Doris leaves to mourn her 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, 36 nieces and nephews.
According to Doris' wishes, there will be no funeral services. Cremation has taken place. Ashes will be interred at Holy Cross Cemetery where she will join in final rest with her parents, most of her sisters and her brother.
She was "the last of the Kiley girls" Amen.
