FREMONT: Evelyn M. Nighswander, 85, went home to be with the Lord on January 1, 2010 at Bethesda Care Center. She was born May 11, 1924 in Fremont to the late Charles and Viola (Guhn) Hodgkinson.
She was a 1942 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. She married Maurice Nighswander August 20, 1978. She and her husband have been "Best Friends" and "In Love" for over 31 years. Evelyn worked for a number of years as a nursing aide at Quality Care Center and as a student bus aide for the School of Hope. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elmore, OH.
She loved to play golf with her husband and received a trophy for a Hole-in-One. She also loved playing the organ, embroidering and reading. Evelyn loved to visit with her great grandchildren, giving them "Eskimo Kisses", and she especially loved her dog, Rocky who also preceded her in death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lloyd and Howard Hodgkinson.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH. Services are on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
