The daughter of Arthur Granville Bond and Viola Victoria Hott Bond, Ruth M. Jones was born December 22, 1924 in Gainesville, TX. She passed away Monday, October 28, 2013 in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta, at the age of 88
Mrs. Jones attended Thackerville Schools and had lived in Love County most of her life. She and George Jones, Jr. were married April 8, 1944 in Thackerville, and he preceded her in death on October 19, 2013. A homemaker, Ruth was always with her husband. She loved flowers and enjoyed canning and cooking for her family. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Thackerville Community Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Virginia Jones; son-in-law, Ira G. Burkhart; granddaughter, Denise Hollar; two brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Shirley Jones and Danny and Sue Ann Jones, all of Thackerville; a daughter, Betty Jo Burkhart of Marietta; two sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Wade of Thackerville and Christine and Bobby Simmel of Lindsay, TX; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers will be grandsons, Brian Burkhart, Cody Jones, Nathan Jones, George Jones and Billy Jones; and great-granddaughter, Megan Hollar. Honorary bearers are granddaughter, Ashley Jones; and great-grandchildren, Olivia Jones, Max Jones, Avery Burkhart, Emma Burkhart, Savannah Park and Sawyer Jones.
