Charles V. Garrison of 96 South Morris street, Waynesburg, well-known county farmer and stockman, died unexpectedly at 3:40 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, in Greene County Memorial Hospital.

The 80-year-old native of Gilmore Township was active until stricken suddenly ill on Friday. Only Thursday, Mr. Garrison took part in the Pennsylvania Livestock Auction in West Waynesburg as was his usual custom. He was treasurer of the Auction, which he helped organize, and also a member of Lodge No. 757, B.P.O. Elks, Waynesburg.

Before moving to Waynesburg in 1924 Mr. Garrison operated a 900-acre farm in Gilmore Township. He was also an oil and gas producer for many years.

A son of the late J. L. and Cassie White Garrison, the deceased was born Dec. 21, 1870 in Gilmore Township.

Mr. Garrison is survived by his widow, the former Rossie Shough; a daughter, Mary, wife of John Patrick Ely of McKeesport; three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. W. E. Scott of Waynesburg, and a foster brother, Guy Garrison of Jollytown.

Mr. Garrison's only son, James, died in 1939.
