Ruby Cherry formerly of Barrington Hills, Illinois:
Services for Ruby Evelyn Cherry, 91, of Vernon Hills, will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 15, at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington, where the family will be receiving friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.

Born July 11,1920, in Willmar, MN, she passed away Wednesday, October 12,2011, at Highland Park Hospital.

Mrs. Cherry was a wonderful and caring wife and mother, who was a 1938 graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. After high school, she worked at Midland Bank, where she met her husband, Clifford Daniel Cherry. She went on to work for Federal Cartridge in the Twin Cities.

Mrs. Cherry taught Sunday school to the younger children at the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Barrington and volunteered in the Church's Reading Room. She was an avid reader and a great cook and baker.

Mrs. Cherry is survived by her children, Daniel (Ellen McClure), Darlene, Barbara (Hayden Daniel) and Linda Cherry; grandchildren, Matthew (Megan) Buchanan Cherry and Kathryn Cherry; and great-grandchildren, Grainne Buchanan and Avery Buchanan Cherry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Daniel Cherry; parents, Frank and Adina (nee Anderson) Norman; and siblings, Clarence, Lawrence, Walter, Eleanore, Frances, and Donald.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Church of Christ, Scientist, 421 E. Main St. Barrington, IL 60010.
