George Stablein, Sr., aged 62 years, resident of Charleroi for a number of years, died yesterday morning, Friday, September 27, 1935, at 11:45 o'clock at the family residence, 805 Crest Avenue. An illness of several weeks suddenly became critical with development of pneumonia two days ago and caused his death. Mr. Stablein was born November 8, 1872, in Pittsburgh. He came to Charleroi in 1894 as an employee of the Macbeth Glass Company. He relinquished this position with his appointment in 1904 to the local police force, serving until 1908 when he was elected constable. He served in this office for eleven years. In 1909 Mr. Stablein established a bakery in the hill district which he conducted for 20 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Hannah (Culler) Stablein and the following sons and daughters: Mrs. J. F. McGill of Duquesne; George Stablein Jr., of Charleroi; Frank Stablein of McKeesport; Charles Stablein of Charleroi, and Mrs. A. Cattaneo, of Sunnyside. Four sisters, Mrs. A. C. Levingood of Carrick; Mrs. T. King of Pittsburgh; Mrs. W. Gray of New Sheffield, Pennsylvania and Mrs. G. Fink of Cleveland, Ohio, and eight grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the late residence with the Rev. Frank S. Montgomery, pastor of the Washington Avenue Presbyterian Church, in charge. Interment will be in Monongahela Cemetery.
