John Roger Bohm was born Aug. 30, 1939 to Alta and James "Dick" Bohm in Rockford, IL and graduated into the arms of our Lord in the early morning hours of Sat., Oct. 26, 2013 in Lubbock, TX. In 1999, John was diagnosed with cancer and in the ensuing years this illness continued to plague him. Through all the arduous treatments, he stood strong with his devoted wife, Lori, by his side. He fought a valiant battle that finally came to end on Sat. morning.

John was a man of many talents both in his professional life as well as his private life. His proudest moment was when, on April 29, 1969, he fought and won the battle with alcoholism. After that date, he made it his life's mission to reach out and spread the news of Alcoholics Anonymous to others in distress and help them conquer their alcoholism.

John grew up in Fort Sumner and Albuquerque, and graduated from high school in Carlsbad, NM. John's quest for life took him down many roads. For a number of years, he worked as a heavy equipment and finish blade operator, then went on to farming and ranching. He migrated to California where he owned and operated a Service Station for a few years. Eventually a 'friend' suggested he return to his beloved New Mexico and that is exactly what he did. Upon his return, he worked as Special Project Director for the New Mexico Dept of Hospitals and as an Alcoholism Therapist for the Care Unit at Lovelace Medical Center. In the years just preceding his retirement, John was Superintendent for the Roosevelt County Road Department.

Being a lover of all things old, John was known as "the Collector of Collections". The collection that gave him the greatest joy was old cars, trucks and gas station memorabilia. With his expertise, and that of his dear friend, Charlie Siau, he loved restoring the vehicles to their original beauty.

On May 29, 1979, in Carrizozo, NM he was married to the love of his life, Lori Lee Landry. They worked and played together, and enjoyed more than 34 years of marriage before his death. As a couple, they were an active part of the life of Central Christian Church.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lori Lee Bohm; his son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Shawn Bohm of Portales; his three daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie Dicus of Hesperia, MI, Diane Escalante of Portales, and Kristi and Ben Headley of Albuquerque; his 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; his two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ed Bohm of Everman, TX and Dr. James (Jo Ann) Bohm of Kenner, LA; and his Uncle, friend and running buddy, Amos "Bub" Snow and wife Sandy of Kilgore, TX; his mother-in-law, Lee Landry of Portales; and last but not least, he will be greatly missed by his 'Service Dog' and loyal companion, "Slick."

John was preceded in death by his mother and father, his father-in-law, Bob Landry and his sister-in-law, Doris Bohm.
