Helen moved with her parents to Syracuse, NY from Clayville, NY when she was a young girl. She graduated high school there and met Carl Pottenger when he was attending Syracuse University. They were married 18 Oct 1930 in Syracuse at the Immanuel Evangelical Church. They lived in New York City, later they moved to Philadelphia, PA and Bucks county, PA, Carl worked as a research chemist. Carl and Helen had four children, two being Carla and Charles. In their later years they lived in Sewickley, PA and Naples, FL.
