Funeral services for Matthew F. Schmitz, of 3859 Carman Rd., Rotterdam, who died Friday at Ellis Hospital after a long illness, will be held at the Kivlin-Campbell funeral Homes at 9:15a.m. today.
Mr. Schmitz, a native of Schenectady, had been associated with Standard Brands, Inc., of Albany 32 years and had been sales manager for 26 years until his retirement in 1965.
A veteran of World War II, he was a communicant of St. Madeline Sophie Church and was a member of the Holy Name Society of the church. Mr. Schmitz was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 201, the Knights of St. John, a past president of the Grocery Manufacturers Association, the Nocturnal Adoration Society of the Guilderland district and was a brother of the United Commercial Travelers Association.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ann Slater Schmitz; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Serrell and Miss Mary Ann Schmitz both of Schenectady; fous sisters, Mrs Mary Sullivan, Mrs. Dorothy Phillips and Mrs Anna Kennedy all of Schenectady, and Mrs Helen English of Troy and a brother, Nicholas Schmitz of Schenectady. Four grandchildren also survive.
