He was also known as Jack Clevenger. He was born in Vibbard, Ray Co., Mo. He was a son of Homer Lee and Myrtle (Covey) Clevenger.

Garnett Lee "Jack" Clevenger, 91, of Vibbard, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2005, at his home. He was born on June 23, 1914, the son of Homer Lee and Myrtle (Covey) Clevenger in Vibbard. He spent his entire life in the Vibbard area.
He married Polly L. Wright, of Richmond, on Nov. 3, 1940 in Excelsior Springs, MO.
He was initiated into Bee Hive Lodge #393 A.F. and A.M. on July 24, 1962, where he served as worship master a number of times, plus other officers over the years. He served as district deputy grand master of the 11th district for five years, from 1969 to 1973.
He was a member of the Jewell Chapter #492, O.E.S. at Liberty, MO.
He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Lawson until it closed.
He was a former member of the Ararat Shrine of Kansas City, MO.
He served on the Vibbard School board a number of years, and also the Lawson Rural Fire Department board.
He spent many years farming, and retired from Norrow & Sons Lumber Company of Lawson in 1979, after 25 years of service.
He was a lifetime member of the Vibbard Christian Union Church, where he was on the Cradle roll.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Lee Clevenger of the home, and her fiance' Charles 'Gene' Nolker of Rayville; one brother, Eugene Clevenger of Cameron; one sister, Lorena Baker and husband Stanley of Ulman, MO; one nephew, Robert Welch and wife Donna of Dubuque, IA; one niece Meredith Turner and husband Ray of Cameron, MO; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paretns; his wife Polly on Oct. 25, 1979; and one sister-in-law, Edith Clevenger on April 10, 2004.
The family received friends Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, with Masonic services, at Polley Funeral Home, east of Excelsior Springs. Funeral services were Monday, October 10, 2005, at the Vibbard Christian Union Chruch in Vibbard. Burial was in the Richmond Memory Gardens in Richmond. Arrangements were under the direction of Polley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs.
