Capt Thomas Leftwich was the son of Capt Thomas Leftwich and Jane Stratton. In 1826 he married Maria M Warwick in Amherst VA. Together they had 8 children. He was a Confederate Officer in Co. C of the 1st Battilion of Bedford Cnty. in Virginia. With his family they moved to Missouri about 1860 where he worked as a dentist.
Obituary from Carroll Record 2 Apr 1881, pg. 3, column 3: "Dr. Thos. Leftwich a former resident of Carrollton, died at De Witt last Friday from age and general debility, and was buried at the Carrollton Cemetery on Saturday. The doctor will be remembered as a genial, pleasant gentleman, and on of the old settlers of Carrollton, having removed here from Virginia before the war."
For now there is no Carrollton Cemetery on record. This is an old cemetery at that time.
