Larry was born Feb. 20, 1945, to Edmund and Bertha (Rath) Iverson, in Minot. He graduated from Garrison High School in 1963. After graduation, he attended NDSU. He worked for the Soil Conservation Service until 1967.

In March of 1968, he was drafted into the Army and was stationed in Fort Lewis, Wash. After a tour of duty in the Republic of Vietnam with the 9th Infantry Division, he completed his active service in March 1970 in Fort Hood, Texas. He was honorably discharged in March 1974. He worked construction, and then went back to NDSU for two quarters. In 1974, he moved back to the family farm.

On June 12, 1976, he married Sharon Kay Fast in Garrison. The couple had two children. The Iverson farm was 100 years old in 2007. He farmed until his retirement in 2008. As a family, they enjoyed spending time at the lake, boating and camping, hunting, and farming. He enjoyed "tinkering" in his shop and around the farm. When asked recently, "What can I get you Dad?" he replied, "I have it all right here. My family."

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison. He was a former member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emmet, where he was a very active member. He served many years on the St. Peter's Church Council and the Prairie Rose Lutheran Church board. He was a member of the American Legion Club Post 49, VFW Post 6940, Vietnam Veterans of America, Totten Trail Snowmobile Club, Garrison Farmers Union Elevator Board, Garrison Rural Fire Department, Lake Sakakawea M.E.Y. Club, Garrison Sportsman's Club, and the NRA.
