Virgil F. Reeves, 88 of Horton, Kansas, passed away January 11, 2006, at the Hiawatha Community Hospital. He was born November 6, 1917 in Whiting, Kansas, the son of Sam & Bessie Bender Reeves. Virgil was a heavy equipment operator for the Grasshopper Township for over 46 years, he was also a farmer, stockman and member of the Masonic Lodge in Muscotah, Kansas. In 1936 he married Myrtle "Mutt" H. Carter in Oregon, Missouri. She survives of the home. Other survivors include, three daughters, Emogine Higley of Horton, Kansas, Norma Ireland of McClouth, Kansas and Virginia Cosner of Horton, Kansas. Eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren & three great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 14, 2006 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary where the family will greet friends on Friday from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Horton Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Brown Co. Cancer Society c/o the mortuary.
