Mrs. Emma Funkhouser, 78, of Rt. 1 Cutler, died at 9:10 a.m. Sunday at the Leslie Nursing Home in Buck Creek, following a lingering illness.
Born Jan. 18, 1891, in Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of Gustave and Mary Grassmyer Musall. Her first marriage was to John W. Spencer, who died in 1937. Her marriage in 1941 was to Richard Funkhouser, who survives.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Burlington and the WSCS of the church.
Survivors besides the husband include four sons, Bennie Spencer of Hernando, Fla., Wilbur Spencer of Momence, Ill., Gleason of Memphis, Tenn., and Richard of Rt. 5, Frankfort; six daughters, Mrs. Ruby McKinney of Rensselaer, Mrs. Dorothy Tribbett of Rt. 4, Delphi, Mrs. Vera Measels of Delphi, Mrs. Geneva Woten of Lake Cicott, Mrs. Freda Green of Fountain Run, Ky., and Mrs. Vada Hancock of Kokomo; 39 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; five step-children, Carl Funkhouser of Peru, Roy of Cutler, Mrs. Mildred Thomason of Senora, Calif., Mrs. Betty McCullock of Sanford, N.C., and Mrs. Doris Hanawalt of Bailey, Tex., 15 step-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Nora Spencer of Lake Cicott; one brother, Fred Musall of Monticello.
Three sisters and five brothers preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the Carter Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be there at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The REv. Rob James and the Rev. Louis Baisley will officiate and burial will be in the Davis Cemetery at Burnettsville.
