Darlene Ann Green, was born on January 31, 1935, at home in Wheeler County, Nebraska. Darlene died at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, Nebraska, from complications after hip surgery on Monday, October 21, 2013.

Darlene attended country school in Wheeler County, Nebraska and graduated from Wheeler County (NE.) High School with the Class of 1951. She attended one year of teacher's college at Wayne State College, then taught at a country school in Wheeler County, Nebraska before marrying Robert Green on August 20, 1953 in Ewing, Nebraska at the Presbyterian Church where she had been confirmed and baptized.

To this union 4 children were born; three daughters and one son. They had celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this year.

Darlene was a hard worker, working beside her husband milking cows, ranching, working at Green Oil and Green's Bar & Grill, the sale barn café, O'Neill Bakery, and was now retired. She was well known in the area for her cooking and pie making skills. She was also known for her patching and sewing. She fixed many pair of blue jeans in her life, usually getting another year out of them. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Darlene is survived by: husband, Robert "Bob" Green of 60 years; daughters, Beverly Sparr of Ewing, Nebraska, Becky Moser and husband Gene of Orchard, Nebraska and Lisa Schaaf and husband Bob, of Grand Island, Nebraska; son, Rick Green and wife Chelle of Ericson, Nebraska; 23 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Darlene is preceded in death by: parents, Emil and Anna (Pavel) Pavlis; brother and his wife, Rainold and Norma Pavlis and son in law, Lyle Sparr.

Burial was in Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, Nebraska.
