William was born in Philadelphia. He went by his nickname Bill. He was the son of William H and Meta Isabelle (Hyslop) Krimmel. He graduated from West Chester High School, where he was active in both football and track. He served in the US Army. He served as a medic during World War II. He received the Bronze Star with two oak leaf clusters in January, 1945 and the Purple Heart for wounds suffered January 10, 1945. After reenlisting in the Army, he attended officers training school at Fort Riley, Kansas, and later served as an officer in the Korean War. He was to have retired from the Army Reserves with the rank of Captain. He was stationed in many places including Germany as well as many places in the US. He died very suddenly at his home in Bucks County. He was survived by his wife Eleanor (Rhodes) Krimmel and 8 children.
