Mr. Robert Baird passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 1934, at the home of his son, William, 10th line Fitzroy, after several weeks' illness. He was in his 86th year. His wife predeceased him several years ago. Surviving are four daughters; Mrs. T. J. Hodgins of Huntley (Emma); Mrs. J. A. Baird of Ottawa (Annie); Mrs. R. H. Greene of Carp, (Margaret) ; Mrs. George Greene of Huntley (Eva); two sons, John Allan of Huntley and William Andrew on the homestead. A short service was conducted in the home on Thursday evening by Rev. W. Grant Jones, rector of Fitzroy parish, and in the Church on Friday at 2 p.m. by Rev Jones, Rev. J. C. Anderson of Carp reading the lesson, Canon R. B. Waterman of Ottawa, formerly of Carp, preaching the sermon and Buried: was made in the adjoining Cemetery (St. Paul's Ninth Line Anglican Church). Pallbearers were Messrs. S.E.Baird, Kinburn; John Albert Baird, Woodlawn; Campbell Baird, Kinburn; Robert Montgomery, Ottawa; S.T.Baird, Kinburn, and George Walker, Kinburn. Floral offerings received were basket from family, wreath from Mrs. Robertson, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Montgomery and daughter, Evelyn, spray, grandchildren.
