Edina, Mo., May 6.—Mrs. Alta E. Hunter, 83, of Plevna died Sunday morning at 7 in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Pauline Rouner of Plevna, where she had been residing.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 in the Hudson-Rimer funeral home. The Rev. Custer Vaughn will officiate and burial will be in Locust Hill cemetery west of Novelty.
Mrs. Hunter was born Sept. 3, 1879, in Knox county, a daughter of Thomas and Mary Alice Douglas Jeffries. She was married to William D. Hunter at La Plata Nov. 27, 1901. He died Oct 29, 1954. She was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Rouner and Mrs. Albert (Lucille) Taylor of Plevna; three sisters, Mrs. John (Jeannie) Bowen of St. Louis, Mrs. Joe (Edith) Swearingen of New London and Mrs. Dewey (Gertrude) Davis of near Hurdland; a brother, Ray Jeffries of California, two grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Paul, a granddaughter, Mrs. Dorothy Snelling, and a brother, Emery, who died in infancy.
