Fenton--A well-known Fenton farmer, Joseph W. Madden, 70, died Thursday night at St. Ann Hospital, Algona. He had entered the hospital a week ago, and death was attributed to a stroke.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Fenton Methodist church, with Rev. Russell Eldridge officiating, and burial was at Armstrong. Thomas Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Madden had been in declining health since an accident five years ago when a tractor-loader fell on him, pinning him for several hours.

Mr. Madden was born Nov. 24, 1893, near Whittemore, Ia. He went to school there and later at Halfa. Mrs. Madden is the former Alma Kohl of Halfa.

Besides his wife, survivors are two daughters, Mrs. James Mallory, LuVerne, Ia., and Mrs. Howard Boyer, Waukee, Ia., and two grandchildren. Leonard Madden, Armstrong, is a brother. Surviving sisters are Mrs. Oreta Adams, Clearwater, Fla., Mrs. Zatha Myklebust, Alexandria, Minn., Mrs. Avis Jenson, Mankato, Minn., Mrs. Vera Fisher, Des Moines; Mrs. Bertha Ninedorf, Waterloo, Ia., Mrs. Elsie and Mrs. Irene Heine, both of Waverly, Ia.
