TRENTON - Phillip R. French Sr., 77, died Oct. 18, 2013, at MCMH. He was born May 18, 1936, in Eastbrook, the son of Decatur and Nina (Page) French.

Phillip grew up in Eastbrook, he graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1953. In the fall of 1953 he joined the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in England for 37 months. He separated from the Air Force in 1957.

Phillip was married to his first wife and mother of his children, Sandra J. French. On Aug. 3, 1974, Phillip and Florence Frost were married. They have been married for 39 years. He was a member of the American Legion and Trenton Baptist Church. He worked at the Bucksport Mill and retired after 32 years.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Florence; children, Cheryl French, Cathleen and husband, Jeffrey Newbegin, Phillip Jr. and wife, Cyndi French, Thomas French and partner, Lisa, and Jennifer French; grandchildren, Keith and wife, Betty French, Kelly and husband, Jeremy Mastran, April Cunningham, Jessica and husband, San Pao, Nichole French, Dakotah French, Decatur "Ozzy" French, Cayla French and SaraRose French; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Wilbur; brother, Ivan French; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rachel and husband, Bob Chamberland, Lillian Leighton, and Clayton and wife, Edna Frost; niece and nephew, Randall Wilbur and Sandra Bauer; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was known to his grandchildren and many others as "Papa."

He was predeceased by his parents; and grandson, Christopher Cunningham.
