Our beautiful, sweet, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Mary Taylor DeMass, age 79, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from complications of a recent illness.

She was born February 19, 1934 in Cedar City, Utah to Joseph Elmer Taylor and Susie Hirschi.

She lived in New Harmony, Utah for the first six years of her life and then moved to Cedar City, where she lived until graduating from Cedar City High School in 1952.

She married her high school sweetheart, Jack Louis DeMass, on September 2, 1952. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George LDS Temple on April 17, 1953.

She worked in the business office of the Iron County Hospital and Logan L.D.S. Hospital for three years to help put her husband through college. Mary and Jack lived in several cities while Jack was a pilot in the Air Force before settling in Murray, Utah to raise their six children.

Mary was a loyal and dedicated wife and mother. She devoted her entire life to caring for her family. She was proud to say that she was a homemaker and a stay-at-home mom, always there to care for every need.

She loved cooking, sewing, quilting, traveling, gardening, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was meticulous in keeping her house in order and creating an atmosphere of love and warmth in her home.

She was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many positions in the Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary organizations, on both the ward and stake levels. She fulfilled a stake mission with her husband in the Murray, Utah Little Cottonwood Stake and they enjoyed being ordinance workers in the Jordan River Temple.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Gordon; sister, Olga; two sons, Mike and Rick; and grandson, Jaxan. She is survived by her adoring husband of sixty-one years and four children, Jackie (David) McMillan, Kevin (Holly) DeMass, Ron (Judi) DeMass, Tami (Eric) Oliver; daughters-in-law, Joan and MuiLeng; twenty beautiful grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Lolene Carlson, Mona (Ken) Richardson, and Beverly (Larry) Miller; and three brothers, Bryce (Laree) Taylor, Doyle (Vicki) Taylor, and Karl (Pat) Taylor.

A viewing will be held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street (100 East), Midvale, Utah, on Monday, October 21, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. in the River Ridge Eighth Ward Chapel, 10168 South 1100 West, South Jordan, Utah.
