Janet was born July 9, 1922, in Freeport, a daughter of Emma L. (Holsinger) Loewe and Robert V. Loewe. She attended Freeport schools, graduating from Freeport High School. She married Manuel F. "Sugar" Cain on Aug. 27, 1944.
Janet worked in retail and was an auditor for Sears from which she retired in 1984. She moved to Mesa in 1996 to be closer to her children.
She was involved in card clubs, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She loved to bake, had a great sense of humor, and was known for her smile. She was a great daughter, wife and mother and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Glenn) Hopkins; son, Stephen (Donna) Cain; granddaughters, Hillary (Craig) Cappel, Tiffany (Charles) Rust, Mandi Cain, Carey (Justin) Johnson and Dawn Willis; and great-grandchildren, Connor and Kylie Cappel, Brianne Rust, Elijah Cain and Austin and Caitlyn Cregan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Vera (Loewe) Lebrecht. A memorial service will be held in Arizona.
Due to weather conditions in Illinois, a memorial service will be held this spring in Freeport with interment at Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum, Freeport.
