Pauline Lorraine Shara Hardenburger, daughter of William and Frances Shara, was born September 7, 1902, on the family farm south of Narka, and died August 8, 1988, at the Jefferson County Memorial Nursing Home in Fairbury.

She was raised in the Narka community where she attended schools for 12 years. She taught grade school three years at at Round Grove, Narka, and Star districts.

She married Charley Clayton Hardenburger November 30, 1922. They had three children. They began farming south of Narka, moving a year later to the Mahaska-Haddam area, and in 1942 to a farm north of Haddam. In 1947 they moved to a farm west of Haddam where she resided until moving to a nursing home in 1982.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years; her parents; a brother, Leonard; a sister, Elmina.

Survivors include her children: Donna Rae Kennedy, William (Bill) Hardenburger and Charles (Chuck) Hardenburger; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leona Durst of Morrowville, LeNora Donovan of Arizona; a brother, John Shara of Linn.

Funeral services were held August 11 at the United Methodist Church, Haddam, with Rev. Andy Torres officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
