Lewis W. Gibson, of Hainesport, passed away Sunday, October 2nd at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was 76.He was born in Lagrange, GA and raised in Philadelphia. After graduating from high school, Lewis then enlisted into the US Navy. He then retired from the Navy in 1967 and joined the US Postal Services in Bellmawr, NJ where he retired in 1987. Mr. Gibson was a volunteer for the Red Cross for many years until Parkinson's disease altered his life. He was a member of Andrew Phillip Corbin VFW #10065 in Pemberton, the American Legion and the Fleet Reserve. Lewis enjoyed reading, current events and classical music. He was a man of few words but a big heart.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years Mildred; a daughter and son-in-law Icilda and Brandon Johnson; four granddaughters Desiree', Kim, Ava and April; nine great-grandchildren and one devoted sister Evelyn Nancy McRae. He is also survived by five sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 6th at 11 AM at the PERINCHIEF CHAPELS, 438 High St., Mt. Holly. Interment will follow in the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday morning from 10-11 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Lewis to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 N.W. 9th Ave., Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494.
