Some books say he was the youngest son of 'Humphrey & Mary Milward Jennens' & was a British officer who came to Virginia to assist in the fight against the Indians. Others say this is not accurate.

SARAH's MOTHER was: "Mary Jane 'Polly' Pulliam Jennings" (1704-1774) who was born @ Hanover Co., VA to 'James & Mary Pulliam'.

"Mary Jane 'Polly' Pulliam" was thought to have "perhaps" been Col. William Henry Jennings' 2nd. wife because of the 28-year-age-difference between them. They married on 1-24-1724 @ Hanover Co., VA.

"Sarah Jennings Fowlkes" died in 1782 @ Nottoway Parish, then a district of Amelia Co., VA.
She was buried @ the Fowlkes Family Cemetery @ Hyde Park. (Many of the headstones were dumped into a deep well there during The Civil War...according to the 2014 caretaker of the plantation/home.)

[Six years after her death, her husband remarried; she was a 41-yr.-old lady, "Judith Penick" (1747-1823); they had no children.]

SARAH left behind many descendants & apparently a plantation that survived The Civil War & 5 generations of Fowlkes!

"HYDE PARK is a tobacco plantation of old Nottoway Parish, a district of Amelia Co., VA dating to the 1700's whose property's main residence still stands in 2014...& legally called Nottoway Co. as of 1788.

According to The National Register of Historic Places:
"The core of the main house at HYDE PARK is a three-bay, three-story, vernacular interpreted Federal-style, central passage building with exterior gable-end chimneys. The earliest portion of the house, likely built between 1762-1782 by JOHN FOWLKES, exists solely in the Flemish bond portions of the first story & English bond portions of the cellar brick walls."
