Glenn E. Patterson, age 81, of Trail Creek, died Thursday, July 17, 2008 at his residence.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 23 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. John D. Hall and Rev. Kevin Patterson officiating.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 22 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home, with a memorial service conducted by Michiana Lions Club at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City with full military rites conducted by American Legion Skwiat Post #451 and VFW Post #2536.

Mr. Patterson was born March 7, 1927 in Michigan City to Walter R. and Lillian (Omey) Patterson, both of whom preceded him in death.

On January 1, 1960, in Crawfordsville, IN, he married Phyllis Anne Masters, she survives in Trail Creek.

Also surviving are daughters Linda McLean, Betsy (Randall) Poff, Janet (Phillip) Latchford, and Carol (Johnie) Skeen, all of Michigan City, and Susan (Jon) Stoltztus of Lansing, MI; and 15 grandchildren, Bradley Gross, Tracey (Nick) Pollock, Julia (Danny) Valdivieso, Rodney McLean, Andrea McLean, Nick (Catrina) Lootens, Brigette (Sam) Murray, Brittany Poff, Brandon Poff, Luke Latchford, Cecelia Latchford, Eileen Latchford, Lauren Skeen, Tyler Skeen, Cameron Skeen; a sister-in-law, Nancy Patterson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Julia Ellen Patterson, a son, Wayne Edward Patterson, and brother Robert Dale Patterson.

Mr. Patterson was a 1945 Elston graduate, he then attended Bradley University and graduate of the Dale Carnegie Course. Mr. Patterson had been a drafting manager with Hayes Corp./Milton Roy for 45 years until his retirement. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in WWII and Korea.

Glenn was a member of First United Methodist Church, serving as lay leader, trustee chairman, treasurer, head usher and Sunday school superintendent. He was a charter member and past president and treasurer of the Michiana Lions Club, member of American Legion Skwiat Post #451, and had been the owner of Tiny World preschool and learning shop. He was also a former board member of The Flying Carpet Travelogue, The Social & Learning Institute, and the American Red Cross (24 gallon blood donor). He was loving, giving, and dependable- the best husband, father, and grandfather. The grandchildren will always remember the fun times playing with him and all the tootsie rolls he distributed to them. He will be missed by all.
