First Lieutenant Frankart was the pilot of a F-51D Mustang night fighter with the 39th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, 18th Fighter Bomber Group. On November 3, 1951, while on a combat mission, he directed his aircraft into the west entrance of a rail road tunnel near Hwadong-ni, Korea. His remains were not recovered.

Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
