Granite Falls, NC- Mr. Sturges "Tick" Conway Beane, age 86, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Beane was born in Burke County on July 23, 1927 to the late Otis P. Beane and Edna Cannon Beane. He retired from Valdese Weavers after working there for more than 40 years.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Clontz Beane and five brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his two sons, J.R. Beane and wife, Sharon; and Tim Beane and wife, Robin; brothers, Nathan Beane and C.W. Beane; sister, Rachel Hepler; grandchildren, Allison Walsh, Thomas Beane and Tiffany Beane; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Mr. Beane's life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jerome Walker officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Randy Truett, Doug Greene, Larry Beane, Allan Powell, Tim Saunders, and Shawn Patton. Mike Beane will serve as an Honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
