Dellavene Jex Stevens
1934 - 2013

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Dellevene Jex Stevens passed away peacefully in Payson, Utah, Saturday, October 12, 2013, surrounded by her family.

She was born May 25, 1934, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Genevieve Croff and Cyril Hindley Jex. Illnesses in her childhood left her with numerous challenges. She faced these with great courage and determination to overcome them and live life to its fullest. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School and attended Brigham Young University.

On June 9, 1954, she married her sweetheart, Robert E. Stevens, in the Manti Utah Temple. Together they shared 59 years devoted to each other and their family. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in the Primary as president and teacher, in Relief Society as accompanist and a faithful visiting teacher.

Music was God's special gift to Dellavene. Playing the piano by ear, she blessed the lives of her family, friends and community. Anyone that heard her play was deeply touched and knew that it came from her heart. She was a fabulous cook and hostess. Many fond memories are of times spent on outings with family and dear friends. She worked for many years for Nebo School District as a teacher's aide and school librarian. She loved books and reading.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; and their five children: Jim Stevens (Christie) Payson, Diane Cramer (Greg) Idaho Falls, Mark Stevens (Paula) Saratoga Springs , Shauna Crook (Jeff) Spring, Texas, and Brent Stevens, Grand Forks, North Dakota, along with 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear sisters Myrl Ann Averett (Kaye) and Ranae Jenkins (Bill) and sister-in-law Shirley Court (Mont). She was preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren Kimberly Stevens and Derek Johns and one great-grandchild Ruger Robinson.

Mom's family was her joy. She left us with many memories that we will all cherish.

A special thanks is extended to the University of Utah Audiology Department for over 25 years of compassionate care with her hearing and to many others who assisted her over the years.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 18, 2013, 11:00 am at the Payson First Ward Chapel, 225 S. 400 E. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Walker Mortuary, 587 S. 100 W. in Payson and also prior to the services from 9:45 to 10:45 am at the church. Burial will be in the Payson City Cemetery.
