Lila Marie Hostetter was born on September 29, 1936 to Enos and Edna (Richardson) Hostetter in Hecla, SD. She attended country school near Hecla and then went on to high school in Claremont, SD. She was active in basketball and graduated from Claremont High School.
On October 8, 1954 Lila married Clayton Sanderson in Britton, SD. They made their home in the Houghton area. In 1968, they purchased Britton Floral. In 1979 they sold the floral shop and moved to their farm near Houghton. Over the years Lila worked as a waitress for several cafés in the area.
Lila was a member of Aberdeen First Assembly of God. She was active with the Women's Ministry group. She was an excellent cook and was known for her delicious baking. Lila was always a hard worker. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared Lila's life are her husband, Clayton of Houghton, daughter, Jody (Dan) Thompson, Belt, MT, three sons, Jackie Sanderson, Houghton, David (Georgia) Sanderson, Huron, SD, and Dana Sanderson, Houghton, nine grandchildren, Dustin (Nicole) Thompson, Rick Thompson, Larissa Thompson, Alaina (Adrian) Winterberg, Nathan Sanderson, Christopher Sanderson and Tony (Mary) Sanderson, Brianna Sanderson and Sam Sanderson, thirteen great grandchildren, four sisters, Edna (Jerry) Keeley, Aberdeen, Lois Hostetter, Aberdeen, Sharon (Bob) Taylor, Sioux Falls, SD, and Ann Kimball, Columbia, SD, and her brother, Harold (Ruth) Hostetter, International Falls, MN.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents, Enos and Edna Hostetter, Sr., her son Dennis Sanderson, grandchild, Jesse Sanderson six brothers, Frank Hostetter, Jim Hostetter, Enos Hostetter, Jr., John Hostetter, Delbert Hostetter and Paul Hostetter, and her sister Mary (Harold) McCormick.
