Kenneth Joseph Laufenberg, age 80, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012, surrounded by his family, due to complications of a stroke.

Kenny was born to Anton and Henrietta (Zander) Laufenberg on Dec. 13, 1931, in the house on the farm where he lived his entire life. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School and was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pine Bluff, Wis. He met the love of his life, Rose Marie "Rosie" Endres at a polka dance at Fish Lake. They were married Jan. 17, 1953, and celebrated their 59th anniversary this year. They farmed together and raised a family of nine children. Besides farming, Kenny loved sales and through the years sold feed, seed, fertilizer and farm equipment to his fellow farmers and, much to his kids' delight, snowmobiles. He loved shooting the breeze with his customers. He had an affinity for trading in tractors and farm machinery and acquired the name, "Trader Mac". Ken enjoyed traveling with Rosie in their younger years, especially a trip to Germany, his family's homeland. He loved the land, farming, and above all, his family. His classic greeting question was, "Did you get any rain?" On the night of his passing, he sent us a doozy of a rainstorm.

Ken is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Rose Marie (Endres) Laufenberg; his nine children, Steve of Mount Horeb, Jim of Mount Horeb, Connie (Chuck) Bruhn of Black Earth, Donna (Steve) Dresen of Black Earth, Debbie (Jim) Bormann of Madison, Mike (Terry Hummel) of Mount Horeb, Randy (Pam) of Mount Horeb, Chris (Paul Kinne) of Middleton, and Greg of Barneveld; his twelve grandchildren, Dustin and Ashley Dresen, Camille and Courtney Bruhn, Casey and Chelsey Bormann, Nikki, Brandon and Alex Laufenberg and Tasha, Eli and Bella Kinne; brothers and sisters, Herbert (Betty) Laufenberg, Jean (Romie) Statz, Jack (Judy) Laufenberg and Eileen (Jim) Rauls; brothers-in-law, Al (Tillie) Endres and Richard Endres; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Dave Keller, brother and sister-in-law, Art and Leona Laufenberg, sister-in-law, Margaret Endres; niece, Kathy Keller and nephew, Brian Statz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at ST. MARY'S PINE BLUFF CATHOLIC CHURCH with Father Tom Coyle officiating. Burial will be at the St. Ignatius' Calvary Cemetery.
