He was united in marriage to Elizabeth (Betty) Karls on June 6, 1950 at St. John's Catholic Church in Waunakee. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Pine Bluff Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Herb's passion was farming and always worked very hard. He enjoyed playing cards and had a unique sense of humor, he loved to joke around with people.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Kenneth Laufenberg; brother and sister-in-law: Arthur (Leona) Laufenberg, sister and brother-in-law: Marian (David) Keller, in-laws: Helen and Lawrence Niesen, George Karls, Donald Endres and Herman Greiber; niece: Kathy Keller, nephews: Brian Statz, Jerry Niesen and Phillip Karls.
