.......
Viola Milburn, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend passed away August 11, 2012 at the age of 91. Viola was born on december 6, 1920 to Percy Floyd Hudson and Laurena Stubblefield Hudson, in Maricopa, Ca. She had four brothers and one sister, all of whom preceded her in death. She went to Maricopa schools through the twelfth grade and then Taft Junior College.

Viola met Welsey Hughes and they were married in 1939 and they had four children. They lived in Cholame and then later on the Carissa Plains. She cooked for the ranch hands on the Carissa Ranch where Welsey was the foreman. She and her children moved to Atascadero in 1952 and she was divorced in 1955

From 1952 to 1956 she worked from 7a.m. to 5 p.m. at the California Almond Co. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Park Pharmacy in Paso Robles to support her children. In 1956 she went to work at the Cal Poly Health Center. While employed at Cal Poly she was named Outstanding Staff Employee in 1976 and was designated an emeritus member of the Cal Poly staff in 1979. She retired from Cal Poly on December 30, 1978. After retiring from Cal Poly she worked at Sierra Vista Hospital as a medical transcriber for a couple of years.

In June of 1980 she married her best friend and soul mate, Keith Milburn. They enjoyed taking picnics to the ocean; one of their favorite places was Moonstone Beach. They also liked short trips to the Carissa Plains and Pozo. One of their favorite outings was a spring get together every year at Sidney and Cynthia Hudson's home. They also enjoyed the family reunions held at Cuyama.

The family would like to thank Mary Lou and Lita at the M & L Southbay Maxi Care home in Los Osos for their loving care of our mom. You are truly our guardian angels.

Viola was a member of the Los Osos Community Church where she enjoyed the fellowship and friendships she developed over the years.

Viola is survived by her two sons, Dennis Hughes (Barbara) of Bakersfield, Richard Hughes (Beverly) of Paradise, a daughter Deborah Myers (Tom) of Los Osos, four grandchildren Eric Hughes, Sheri Johns, Jennifer Myers, Martin Hughes, and six great grandchildren Katelyn Johns, Dalton Johns, Zack Hughes, Brad Hughes, Madison Hughes and Jonathan Sze and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Keith Milburn, her daughter Marla Montez, grandson Nathan Montez, brothers Bud Hudson, Rod Hudson, Leo Hudson, Sid Hudson, and a sister Nettie Webb.

A memorial service will be held sometime later this year at the Los Osos Memorial Park
