Selma "Sally" Holmquist, 99, formerly of Rock Island, died Friday, June 6, 2008, at Aspen Rehab and Health Care, Silvis.
Funeral Services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Moline. Burial is at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where a Christian Wake will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
The former Selma Bleyaert was born Dec. 21, 1908, in Davenport, the daughter of Camiel and Mary Barra Bleyaert. She married Carl F. Holmquist, Sept. 30, 1941, in Moline. He preceded her in death Sept. 24, 1961.
Selma worked as a clerk at Desaulniers in Moline for a number of years and 12 years in the accounting office at Wagner's Printers, Davenport, retiring in 1974.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Michael A. and Judy Holmquist, Bettendorf, and William C. and Margaret Holmquist, East Moline; grandchildren, Eric (Kerri) Holmquist, Jeffrey Holmquist, Jennifer (Brian) Gray, Gregory (Chasity) Holmquist, Matthew (Amanda) Holmquist and great-grandchildren, Kylie, Robyn, Greta, Jacob and Addy Holmquist. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Mary, Alida, Augusta, Annie and Sabina and a brother, John.
