In the 1870 Census, Louisa is listed as a "domestic servant", age 70, in the household of Henry Platt McKean, a wealthy importer, at Fernhill, his spacious estate in west Germantown. On August 10, 1879, Louisa died of "cholera morbus" at 51 Wister Street in Germantown and was buried in St. Stephen's with Philip. Through the marriage of their daughter Adeline Newcamp to Abraham B. Selsor, Philip and Louisa were related to the Selsors and Ridgways who are also buried in St. Stephen's.
