SHAWVILLE - John Wesley Shomo, 63, of Shawville, died at 2:50 p.m. yesterday in the Clearfield Hospital.
He was born Aug. 25, 1902, at Fallen Timber, a son of George and Roxie (Kaiser) Shomo.
Prior to his illness Mr. Shomo was employed as a carpenter for the Morris Construction Co. of Clearfield. He was a veteran of World War I having service with the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving Mr. Shomo are his wife, the former Laura Graham, and the following sons and daughters: Mrs.Robert (Jean) Bain, Flint, Mich.; Mrs. Merle (Mildred) Johnston, Punxsutawney; Mrs. Walter (Pearl) Singer, Noblestown; Mrs. Wilfred (Eleanor) Trimble, Monada; Mrs. John (Rose) Gearhart, Chreey Tree; Mrs. Thomas (Edith) Gcon, Kennedy, N.Y.; Mrs. Peter (Joann) Pianelli, Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Milton (Joan) Coble, State College; and Phyllis Shomo, Washington, D.C.
He also leaves three brothers: Roy Shomo, Clearfield R.D.; Richard Shomo, Lawrence, Mass.; and John Shomo, Wallaceton; twos sisters: Mrs. Edna Maines, Ossing, N.Y.; and Mrs. Jessie Taylor, Claerfield R.D.; 37 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Bennett Funeral Home. The Rev. George Rees will officiate and burial will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.
Friends may call in the funeral home from 7 p.m. today until time of service Monday.
