They arrived 25 Apr and settled in what is now Eckford. In the following month the family moved to Battle Creek where a farm was purchased.

Private CO H 96th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He enlisted 22 August 1862. He was a 5-foot-8 farmer with gray eyes and brown hair. Oscar was "discharged for disability" 4 February 1863.

They had known children - Ida Mae, Laura Adel, Myrtle Estelle, Etta D.
