Co. D First Maryland Infantry. He was born to Nicholas Snowden and Elizabeth Thomas Warfiels at Montpelier Manor" in Laurel, Prince George's, MD and killed at Harrisonburg, VA.

Married Henrietta Stabler on 28 May 1850 in Philadelphia.

At the time of his death his rank was 2nd Lt but was posthumously elevated to Major by General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson.

He was originally buried in Union Church Cemetery in Cross Keys, VA but in 1884 his body and tombstone were moved to the Confederate Hill section of the Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore, MD.
