Gweneth Irene Grosshans, 92, of Aurora died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Aurora Presbyterian United Church of Christ. Cathy Allen will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.

Mrs. Grosshans was born on March 13, 1906, at Aurora to Floyd and Grace (Holt) Carnes. She grew up and was educated at Stockham and graduated from Stockham High School in 1924.

She married Arthur W. Grosshans on May 6, 1926, at Stockham. They lived in Stockham and Aurora throughout their marriage. Mr. Grosshans died on Jan. 28, 1992. Mrs. Grosshans entered the Hamilton Manor in August 1994.

She was a member of the Aurora Presbyterian United Church of Christ and the Presbyterian Women. She was a past member of the Rebekah Lodge, a 4-H club leader and Sunday school teacher.

She played the piano and banjo with the Carnes Sisters, in the Night Owls Orchestra and the Blue River Band on KMMJ radio.

Survivors include one son, Richard of Aurora; two daughters, Shirley (Mrs. Gip) Barnell and Gwen (Mrs. Stan) Allen, both of Aurora; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Anne Evers of Prairie Village, Kan.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter and a sister, Cleetis Williams.
