It is with heavy hearts we as a family announce the passing of our son, our brother, our father and our grandfather. Javier Jaime Santana was welcomed into the arms of God after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on July 24, 1957 and succumbed to the disease on June 14th 2009.

J.J. as he was called by everyone who knew him was a character of sorts. He lived fast and answered to no one, but was always willing to give you the shirt off his back, literally. There was goodness in his heart, you just had to know how to look for it. One trait that he possessed was the ability to outwork all of us. No matter what the job, you could count on J.J. to pull more than his load and leave the rest of us behind. He had a ready laugh and crazy sense of humor. J.J. was a man of many talents and a quick study when it came to learning something new. His early years were spent in California and Texas. Eventually the family settled in Prosser, WA.

During his lifetime J.J. was a mechanic, a carpenter, a cook, a forklift driver and a machine operator. His hobbies included fishing and hunting. He was also a most excellent pool player. In his younger years J.J. also played softball on weekends in tournaments around the valley.

J.J. leaves behind his mother and Step-father Paula and Salvador Balderas of Grandview WA, a brother, Ismael Angel Santana and wife Lisa of Bellingham, WA, two sisters, Norma Camacho and husband Juan of Grandview, WA and Alma Santana of Yakima, WA, three children Javier Jaime Santana Jr. and wife Selena of Prosser, WA, Francisco Luis Santana and fiancé Amanda Herndon of Yakima, WA, Amanda Santana and fiancé Jacoby Horton of Richland WA. All of his children are from a previous marriage to Betty Mendez. J.J. leaves behind many nieces and nephews and four grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Ysmael A. Santana.

He will be missed. But he will live in our hearts.

Viewing and visitation will be held with a Rosary to be recited at at Sunnyside Funeral Home.
