She was born to William and Myrtle Amy Palmer Anderson on June 16, 1915 in Cochise County, Arizona. In 1920, after the Mexican Revolution, her family returned to Colonia Pacheco, Chihuahua, Mexico.
She met Edwin Thomas Cummings and they were married on March 16, 1933, making their home in Southern California and then Salt Lake City. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. After Ed's passing, she married Norman Charles Johns. They made their home in Eagar, Arizona.
Verda is survived by her son, Ernie (Kathryn) Cummings; her daughter, Donna (Steve) Taylor; and her brother, Joe (Nancy) Anderson. She is Grandma to eleven grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Butler Thirty-Third Ward Chapel, 1845 East 7200 South. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the services,
