Johnny Edward Nichols, 81 of Timberville, passed away October 11, 2013 at Harrisonburg Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Nichols was born November 22, 1931 in Luray, and was the son of the late William Daniel "Bubby" and Martha Cook Nichols. He was a member of the Ray of Hope Pentecostal Church in Harrisonburg and enjoyed basket weaving. He worked security at Reynolds-Alcoa in Grottoes before retiring.

On February 12, 1950 he married Dorothy Lam Nichols, who preceded him in death. He is survived by a son, Kenneth Nichols & wife, Sheri, Texas; brothers, Ernest Nichols, Mayland, Joseph Nichols, Elkton;; sisters, Elva Pence, Roanoke, Elizabeth Jenkins, Luray, Marguerite Turner, Florida; four grandchildren, Stacy Nichols, Michael Nichols, Shana Nichols, Kenny Nichols Jr.; six great-grandchildren.

Pastor Jimmy Kite will conduct a graveside service 3:00 pm Sunday at the Elk Run Cemetery in Elkton.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening (tonight) 6 to 8 pm at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg
