Barbara Lee Jobes, 70 of Pittsburg, KS died at 1:43 a.m. Wednesday October 9, 2013 at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, MO.
She was born September 8, 1943 in Monroe, MI the daughter of Eldon and Carolyn (Glor) Skidmore. She has been a resident of the Pittsburg area for nearly 50 years.
Barbara was raised in Arcadia, KS where she attended elementary and was a graduate of Arcadia High School.
Barbara married Jerry Jobes in 1969 in Miami, OK; he survives at the home.She was a homemaker, raising 5 children. During her free time Barbara enjoyed painting, ceramics, reading books, crafting, sewing and electronics. Barbara was also a volunteer for nearly 30 years working at the Pittsburg Public Library for the Crawford County Genealogical Society.
Survivors include her husband Jerry of the home; 2 sons-Mark Engle and wife Julie of Frontenac, Kelly Jobes and wife Angie of Joplin, MO; 2 daughters Kathy Newman of Springfield, MO, Amy Carl and husband Barry of North Platte, NE; a brother Gary Skidmore and wife Jean of Belton, MO; a sister Carol Lawrence of Grandview, MO; 11 grandchildren and 7 Great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Tamie Engle.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday October 14th at the Sheffield Cemetery rural Arcadia, KS with Reverend Steve Cole officiating. Friends and family are requested to meet at the cemetery. Following the services the family will receive friends at the St. Maryís Colgan Activity Center at 212 E. 9th St. in Pittsburg.
