Darrell K. Stephens, 98, of Freeport, died Friday, October 4, 2013, at Manor Court.

Born June 14, 1915 in Galena he was the son of Byron and Ethel Kilian Stephens.

He married Jane B. Cook December 25, 1947 in Freeport and she died May 26, 2009.

He was a veteran of World War II.

Darrell's career involved working at a Grocery Store, Miller-Jones Shoe Store for three years, and Kraft Foods for ten years, Structo for ten years, Burgess Battery, and then 15 years at Newell Companies.

His memberships included United Presbyterian Church, Excelsior Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies and Scottish Rite Choir.

Surviving is his brother, Donald D. (Gisela) Stephenson of Payson, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister Carolyn Cole.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013, in the Chapel of Peace at Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.

A memorial has been established for United Presbyterian Church.
