MRS. MARY ANDERSON
PASSES AWAY

Death Claims One of This Community's Pioneers

Mrs. Mary Anderson of Chisago City, one of the oldest settlers in this community, died last Saturday morning at 6 o'clock, at the advanced age of 86 years, 11 months and 13 days. Her death was due principally to old age.

The funeral took place last Tuesday from the Chisago City church, Rev. Slatt officiating, and the body was laid to rest in the Chisago City cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Anderson was born in Prosta Noble, Kronebergs Lan, Sweden, on January 24th, 1823. In 1869, she, together with her husband P. G. Anderson, emigrated to this country. They came directly to this community and settled on a piece of land near Chisago City. To tell of the many trials and hardships they were compelled to undergo before they eventually succeeded in wrenching a comfortable living out of the virgin soil, would be a mere repetition of the story of scores of others who came here at the time, when this community was young, so let it suffice to say, that the perserverance and indomitable energy of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson won for that at last, and they were able to pass their declining years in comfort.

Mrs. Anderson was at all times a devout christian and her neighbors are always ready to testify to her kindness and willingness to render them assistance of any kind when ever needed. She was a career member of the Chisago City church and was closely affiliated with it in all its charitable and missionary work. Her husband, who was very well known here, died about 4 years ago, and since his demise Mrs. Anderson has made her home with her children, of whom six survive her. They are, Mrs. Frank Linn and Mrs. Mathilda Sjoquist of Chisago City, Rev. John J. Sjoquist of Dassel, Minn., Mrs. N. M. Vanstrum of Minneapolis, Mrs. Ingrid C Haling of Ironwood, Mich., and Charles Brady of Georgetown, Texas.

May the good wife and mother rest in peace.
