MR. HENRY BUSSEY DEAD. THE SUMMONS CAME LAST NIGHT AT 9:30 O'CLOCK.

Mr. Henry Bussey is dead. He died at his home on Third avenue last night at 9:30 o'clock.

The intelligence will occasion genuine regret throughout the city for Mr. Bussey was one of the best known, most prominent and popular citizens of Columbus, and hundreds will read with the greatest of sorry the announcement of his death.

It will occasion very little surprise, however, for the event has been almost momentarily expected for the past two weeks. His illness has been a lingering one, and his vitality was wonderful.

Mr. Bussey was the third son of the late Dr. N.J. Bussey, of this city. He was born at Jamestown, Georgia, on February 20, 1856, and spent his boyhood days in Columbus. He was graduated from the State University, and also attended the Virginia Military Institute. In 1878, he was married Miss Lizzie Lucas of Athens, Ga., and has resided in Columbus since that date. Mr. Bussey is allied very closely with a number of business interests of Columbus, and has always had the growth and prosperity of the city at heart.

He served the city as alderman in 1884, and was at the time of his death a member of Council, having been re-elected last year. He discharged the duties confided to him in a manner every way acceptable to his constituents.

Mr. Bussey was a loving and devoted husband and father, a true friend, and an upright citizen. While well and most favorably known to nearly every resident of Columbus, it was especially to his near friends, and family that he was greatly endeared. He was a man of somewhat retiring disposition, and one had to know him well to appreciate the manliness and solid worth which made his character. Among the inner circle of his family and friends, his noble traits awakened a sincere and genuine love, and the tears which will fall on his bier today will come from hearts true to the memory of his virtues. The hearts of hundreds will go out to the bereaved wife and daughter, Miss Mamie, and two sons, Messrs. Fred and N.J. The funeral will take place from the family residence this afternoon. The funeral notice appears elsewhere.
