Velma Meese
ORD -- Velma Meese, 96, of Ord died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. The Rev. Jim Warner will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery.
Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's School or the donor's choice.
Mrs. Meese was born on May 18, 1902, east of Ord in Valley County to W.H. and Nancy (Timmerman) Cronk. She attended Plain Valley School. She worked as a telephone operator at Ord for a number of years.
She married John T. Meese on Feb. 23, 1922, at Ord. They lived on a farm east of Ord until 1952, when they moved into Ord. Mr. Meese died on Dec. 12, 1976.
Mrs. Meese was a member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed flowers and music.
Survivors include three daughters, Adelene Absalon of Falls Church, Va., Mildred Christoffersen of Clayton, Ga., and Charlotte Meese of Ord; one son, Bill Meese of Ord; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Ray Meese; six sisters and three brothers.
